A memorable debut on the international stage

Baartman, at 31, made a memorable debut on the world stage with remarkable figures of 4-1-9-1 against Sri Lanka in South Africa's opening Group D win in New York. His wicket of Pathum Nissanka on his very first delivery marked a dream start to his international career.

Reflecting on his journey, Baartman expressed the indescribable feeling of representing his country and wearing the South African jersey. Despite facing setbacks, such as missing out on a Test tour due to COVID-19, Baartman remained resilient and focused on his goals. He credits his mother, Maria Baartman, as his hero and biggest supporter, acknowledging her role in his upbringing and cricket career.

Baartman's success in both Test and limited-overs cricket defied initial perceptions, as many had only seen him as a Test player. Through hard work and determination, he proved his capabilities across formats, earning recognition and pride in South African cricket.

As the Proteas continue their campaign, Baartman remains determined to make further contributions to his team's success, embodying resilience, dedication, and the spirit of overcoming challenges.
