Ahmed Shahzad, a seasoned cricketer from Pakistan, has praised Virat Kohli as a cricketing legend, making it clear that there should be no comparisons made between Pakistani captain Babar Azam and the Indian maestro.
Shahzad, who has consistently shown his admiration for the Indian star, highlighted Kohli's pivotal role in India's victory in the T20 World Cup final with his 76-run innings. "Virat Kohli is a legend of our era. Every time he took the field, he displayed the same passion for the game. Even in his last T20I, Kohli was seen celebrating at long-on and long-off whenever a wicket fell. While he may not have scored runs throughout the T20 World Cup, destiny had it written for him to shine in the final. His runs were crucial in securing India's victory when no one else in the team was performing with the bat. Without Kohli's innings, India would not have emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup final. He is building a remarkable legacy in T20Is. It will be a daunting task for Indian Cricket to find a player to fill his massive shoes. Babar Azam or any other cricketer should not be compared to Kohli," Shahzad expressed to reporters in Abu Dhabi.
Shahzad's comments followed closely after Kohli's announcement to retire from T20 Internationals, with a focus on excelling in Test cricket, an arena where he has already left an indelible mark by setting numerous records and achieving commendable milestones.
