Alice Capsey Joins England’s T20 Squad for South Africa Tour
After being initially left out, Alice Capsey has been added to England’s T20 squad for their tour of South Africa, which begins on November 24. The 20-year-old was called up following minor injury concerns within the team and will join the squad on Monday. The tour includes three T20 matches, three ODIs, and a historic four-day Test match, marking the first Women's Test in South Africa since 2002.
Capsey’s recent form has been inconsistent, with no scores above 25 in her last five T20 internationals. She also struggled in England’s disappointing six-wicket loss to the West Indies during the World Cup.
"What I do know about Alice is that she's incredibly strong-willed and really determined to be the best player she can be," said Lewis after declaring his white-ball squad last week. He believes this could be a turning point for her to find greater consistency.
Earlier this month, Capsey showcased her bowling prowess with a five-wicket haul in the Women's Big Bash League but was dismissed for a first-ball duck in the same match. The T20 squad departs for South Africa on November 16, while the ODI and Test squads will follow on November 27.
