Alyssa Healy's Injury Worries Before T20 WC Semi-Final
Australian captain Alyssa Healy's participation in the semi-final against South Africa in the T20 World Cup in Dubai is in jeopardy due to a foot injury. Healy, who was forced to leave the field during a dominant group-stage victory over Pakistan, is now in a race against time to recover. She missed Australia's critical match against India, which secured their top position in the group and maintained their unbeaten run in the tournament.
Upon arriving at the stadium for the India match, Healy was seen on crutches and wearing a moon boot, indicating the severity of her condition. Describing her foot injury as "bloody sore," she expressed relief that the issue was not related to her calf, which would have considerably jeopardised her tournament. Healy has had a minor re-injury of her foot from earlier this year but remains hopeful about participating in the upcoming matches.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Healy's fitness, Australia's vice-captain Ellyse Perry is confident that the medical team is dedicated to her recovery. "The medical staff is going to give her every opportunity to play," Perry stated. Meanwhile, South Africa, who is eager for revenge after losing to Australia in last year's T20 World Cup final, are buoyed by their recent victories against the Australians in earlier matches this year, suggesting an exciting clash ahead.
