India and South Africa are set to renew their cricketing rivalry with a short four-match T20I series scheduled for November 2024, as announced jointly by Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This series marks India's second consecutive year of touring South Africa, following their comprehensive tour across all three formats in 2023-24.
The series will commence with the first T20I at Kingsmead in Durban on November 8. The teams will then move to Gqeberha for the second match on November 10, followed by games in Centurion on November 13 and Johannesburg on November 15. Last year's T20I leg of the tour ended with a 1-1 scoreline after the match in Durban was washed out due to rain.
This brief series for India fits between their home Test matches against New Zealand and their upcoming tour to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar series. CSA Chairperson Lawson Naidoo expressed gratitude towards the BCCI for their ongoing support of South African cricket, emphasising the anticipation among fans for the exciting contests and camaraderie that characterise matches between India and South Africa.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah highlighted the strong bond between the two cricketing nations, noting the mutual respect and admiration shared by fans on both sides. He expressed confidence that the upcoming series will showcase exceptional cricketing talent and deliver thrilling and intense matches that fans eagerly anticipate.
The announcement has set the stage for another chapter in the longstanding cricketing relationship between India and South Africa, promising high-quality cricket and exciting contests on South African soil in November.
