Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian cricketer, has once again rebuked former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal for his racist joke targeting Sikhs. Harbhajan referred to Akmal as a "Nalaayak" (an irresponsible or mischievous person).
During the T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan, Kamran Akmal made derogatory remarks about India pacer Arshdeep Singh, sparking outrage on social media. Despite Akmal issuing an apology, Harbhajan remained steadfast in his condemnation of the comments.
In a video shared by ANI, Harbhajan criticised Akmal's statement, denouncing it as absurd and childish. He underscored the importance of respecting all religions and chastised Akmal for ridiculing Sikhism. Harbhajan also reminded Akmal of the significant contributions made by Sikhs throughout history, including their efforts to protect communities during turbulent times.
While acknowledging Akmal's apology, Harbhajan urged him to refrain from causing harm to any religious sentiments in the future. He stressed the need for mutual respect among all religions, including Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, and Christianity.
