At long last, South Africa has won the Cricket World Cup

In the final of the Over-40 Cricket World Cup held in Cape Town on Friday, South Africa defeated New Zealand by six wickets.

The hosts successfully chased down a target of 156 runs at Western Province Cricket Club, with wicketkeeper Werner Moolman remaining unbeaten on 45.

Kyle Smit, the opening batsman for South Africa, scored 33 runs off 42 balls, while Nathan Jones contributed a useful 23 runs off 28 balls.

New Zealand was bowled out for 155 runs in 42.2 overs.

Opener Hardeep Singh scored 55 off 67 deliveries, while Dan Styer, Lundi Mbane, Abdul Aziz Temoor, and Pieter Booysen each took two wickets for the hosts.
