Australia's Experience Proved Crucial

India’s aspirations for the semi-finals were dashed after a narrow nine-run defeat to Australia, leaving head coach Amol Muzumdar reflecting on lessons learned from the match's disappointments. Despite expressing his discontent, Muzumdar emphasised the importance of experience in crucial moments, stating, "We were in the game until the last over, but Australia's experience ultimately saw them through."

India's fielding let them down, as they missed several key chances, dropping three catches and failing to capitalise on a stumping and a run-out. A critical lbw decision favouring Australia further complicated matters, offering batter Phoebe Litchfield a reprieve that allowed her to contribute significantly to the team's total of 152—the highest at this venue in the tournament.

During the chase, India lost momentum despite Harmanpreet Kaur's valiant 54. They needed a stronger start in the final overs, which Muzumdar recognized during their mid-innings discussion. "The key was to stay in the chase while keeping an eye on the run rate," he said, underscoring the crucial role of Harmanpreet's steadying influence.

Looking ahead, Muzumdar conveyed confidence in the team's preparation and commitment, noting that rigorous training camps had set them up well for this World Cup. He praised Harmanpreet's resilience despite physical struggles, acknowledging her as a vital part of the team. “Working with this group has been remarkable,” he stated, teasing a hopeful outlook for future challenges.
