Bangladesh Seeks Security Consultant for Upcoming Pakistan Tour
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that they have approached the government to provide a security consultant for their upcoming Test series tour of Pakistan.
Bangladesh is set to travel to Pakistan on August 17th for two Test matches, part of the ICC Test Championship. The matches are scheduled in Rawalpindi from August 21-25 and in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
Jalal Yunus, the chairman of BCB cricket operations, stated that the tour was confirmed after Pakistan assured them of state-level security. He explained that similar security measures were provided during the Asia Cup when Bangladesh previously visited Pakistan.
Yunus accentuated that recent visits by other international teams to Pakistan had also been conducted under strict security measures, which were met with satisfaction. He assured that the tour was finalised only after receiving comprehensive security assurances from Pakistani authorities.
"We are concerned about the security, but we decided to proceed with the tour after thorough evaluations and assurances from Pakistan," Yunus said. He also mentioned that the BCB has requested a security consultant to maintain continuous communication regarding security concerns throughout the tour.
According to Yunus, the players have no objections to participating in the tour.
