Bangladesh's star pacer Taskin Ahmed has addressed the incident where he overslept and missed the team bus before a crucial T20 World Cup match against India. Taskin clarified that there was no disciplinary action taken against him and that he was dropped from the match due to team combination reasons, not his late arrival.
Despite his tardiness, Taskin managed to reach the ground before the toss, arriving around 30-40 minutes before the start of the match. He explained, "I missed the team bus which left the hotel at 8.35 am. I left for the ground at 8.43 am and almost reached the bus. But I wasn't going to play anyway, so it wasn't the reason for not being selected."
Former captain Shakib Al Hasan also weighed in, mentioning that the team has strict rules regarding buses leaving on time and Taskin's late arrival made it difficult for him to be picked for the match. Shakib added that Taskin apologised to the team, and the incident was considered an unintentional mistake that was resolved there.
Taskin returned to the playing XI in Bangladesh's next game against Afghanistan on June 24, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board president confirming that no fine was imposed on him. The matter was handled internally and resolved amicably.
