Coetzee assisted Mumbai in fending off Punjab
On Thursday, in the IPL, Gerald Coetzee took three wickets in Mumbai Indians' nine-run victory over Punjab Kings.
Coetzee, a pace bowler from Proteas, finished with figures of 3-32 in his four overs, helping Mumbai bowl Punjab out for 183.
Mumbai posted 192-7 earlier, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav's 78 off 53 balls.
The Mumbai innings began with an 18-run partnership between openers Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma. However, Kishan, who scored eight runs off eight balls, fell in the third over.
Sharma scored 36 runs off 25 balls before being dismissed in the 12th over, while Yadav was out in the 17th.
Tilak Varma scored 34 runs off 18 balls, with contributions from Hardik Pandya (10) and Tim David (14).
Punjab had a poor start to their innings, losing Coetzee and Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah early on and ending the second over at 14-3.
Ashutosh Sharma played a crucial role in rebuilding the innings, scoring an explosive 61 runs off just 28 balls. He was ably supported by Shashank Singh (41) and Harpreet Brar (21).
Despite Kagiso Rabada scoring eight runs off three balls, Punjab fell short in the end.
The acting captain of Punjab, Sam Curran, expressed his disappointment, stating that it was heartbreaking to come so close and still lose.
