CSA Professional Women Domestic League set to resume this week

Cricket South Africa's (CSA) Professional Domestic Women's League resumes this weekend after a two-month break, with Hollywoodbets Dolphins and Western Province looking to consolidate their top positions as the season progresses.

The Durban-based Dolphins are the leaders in the Women's Provincial One-Day Cup, while Cape Side Province is at the top of the Women's T20 Challenge.

The action kicks off with a double-header derby in Oudtshoorn, where Province takes on neighbours Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers, first in a 50-over match and then in a T20 clash.

The Badgers, third in both competitions, will be without key player Tazmin Brits, their leading one-day run-scorer and second-highest run-scorer in the T20 tournament, as she is on the Proteas Women's tour of Australia.

Wins for the South Western Districts outfit will go a long way towards reviving their prospects for the season and opening the doors for the rest of the chasing pack.

Province currently leads the T20 League with 24 points from six games, with DP World Lions second on 16 points and the Badgers third on 13 points, although they have a game in hand on the two sides above them.

The other teams in the league will not resume action until next weekend. Meanwhile, the Dolphins (22 points) lead Fidelity Titans (19 points) in the one-day competition, although the Tshwane side has played a game more.

Each team will play 10 games in the competition - the leaders have four more to play compared to three for their nearest challengers.

Third-placed Badgers have a game in hand but will be without star player Brits as the season draws to a close.

In Women's Division 2, the round-robin matches will be followed by the National Women's Week. This will include cross-pool matches with promotion implications for next season.

Every single game will be crucial as there are no play-offs in either division. There is automatic relegation/promotion at the end of the season.
