Curran and Nyamhuri Earn Call-Ups for Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe’s cricket team has introduced fresh talent for their upcoming series against Afghanistan, with Ben Curran and Newman Nyamhuri making their way into the national squads. Ben Curran, son of former Zimbabwean cricketer Kevin Curran and brother of England internationals Tom and Sam Curran, has been included in the ODI squad after showcasing impressive form in domestic cricket.
Newman Nyamhuri, an 18-year-old left-arm pacer, has also earned his first international call-up. Nyamhuri caught attention earlier this year as Zimbabwe’s leading wicket-taker in the Under-19 World Cup held in South Africa. Unlike Curran, Nyamhuri will feature in both the ODI and T20I squads.
The pair replaces Faraz Akram, Brandon Mavuta, and Clive Madande, who is recovering from a shoulder injury. While the squads remain largely unchanged from the team that recently faced Pakistan, Nyamhuri and Takudzwanashe Kaitano have been added to the T20I lineup. Zimbabwe managed to claim a win in the opening ODI of that series, despite losing the overall contest.
The Afghanistan tour begins with three T20Is in Harare from December 11-14, followed by a three-match ODI series at the same venue. Fans will be eager to see how these fresh faces perform on the international stage.
