David Miller Becomes Sixth Cricketer to Play 500 T20 Matches

South African middle-order batter David Miller reached a remarkable milestone by playing his 500th T20 match on Wednesday, becoming only the sixth cricketer in the world to achieve this feat. Miller reached this landmark during the Barbados Royals' Caribbean Premier League (CPL) clash against Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Celebrating the occasion in style, Miller smashed an unbeaten 71 off 34 balls, hitting eight fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 208.82. Despite his brilliant innings, Barbados Royals fell short, managing 172/9 in response to Guyana’s imposing 219/8, driven by explosive half-centuries from Shai Hope (71 off 37 balls) and Shimron Hetmyer (57 off 34 balls).

Throughout his 500 T20 matches, Miller has accumulated 10,678 runs at an average of 34.89 and a strike rate exceeding 137. His impressive T20 career includes four centuries and 48 half-centuries, with a personal best of 120. Having proven himself in multiple T20 leagues around the globe, Miller has become a renowned name in tournaments such as the CPL, SA20, Indian Premier League (IPL), Major League Cricket (MLC), Pakistan Super League (PSL), and Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).

The other players to have played the most matches in T20 history are Kieron Pollard (684), Dwayne Bravo (582), Shoaib Malik (542), Sunil Narine (525), and Andre Russell (523).

In CPL 2024, Miller has shown fine form, scoring 152 runs in six matches at an average of 38.00 and a strike rate of over 142, including one fifty.
