Dhruv Jurel: "I believe in taking one day at a time."

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel made a strong impression during the Test series against England in early 2024, scoring 190 runs in four innings across three Tests. However, with India gearing up for a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, Jurel’s place in the squad remains uncertain. The competition is fierce, with Rishabh Pant’s stellar performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 solidifying his spot, along with KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan also vying for positions. Despite this, Jurel remains calm and focused, emphasising his philosophy of taking things one day at a time.

“I believe in taking one day at a time. I don’t want to put unnecessary pressure on myself regarding what will happen. Right now, I’m focused on playing each match well, which also serves as good practice. My focus is solely on that,” Jurel told *Sports Tak*.

In other news, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has stated that a decision on Mohammed Shami's participation in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy will depend on the National Cricket Academy (NCA) report. Shami is recovering well from an ankle injury sustained during the ODI World Cup last November. He is expected to be fit for India’s home Test series against Bangladesh, which begins in September. Currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru, Shami has resumed bowling without any issues.

Shah told ANI, “Whether Shami will participate in the Australia series depends on his fitness. We will make a decision after reviewing the NCA report.”

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar had earlier mentioned that Shami’s target return is the first Test against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 in Chennai.
