Du Plessis commented on RCB's bowling, stating that they do not have as many options

As Mumbai Indians chased down Royal Challengers Bengaluru's target of 197 with 27 balls to spare, skipper Faf du Plessis admitted that his side was struggling because of a lack of depth in their bowling group. Du Plessis suggested that RCB's batters need to score more runs to have a chance, while their bowlers need to find new ways to be effective.

"At the moment, it feels like, from a batting perspective we have to get and try and push for 220 to have a chance. From a bowling perspective, we don't have as many weapons. So unfortunately it comes down to the batters to make sure that we use our form and our confidence. The scores that we put on the board are probably going to be the only way we are going to get into the competition."

On Thursday, Mumbai scored at a rate of 12.84 runs per over against all six RCB bowlers. Even Vijaykumar Vyshak, the most economical bowler, conceded 10.66 runs per over in his three overs, while Akash Deep was the most expensive at 15.71. Additionally, RCB failed to take any wickets during the powerplay, conceding 72 runs and leaving them with no way back.

Du Plessis stated that the evening dew and the explosive start from Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma, who had a 53-ball stand of 101, forced his bowlers to make errors. He also noted that the surface was batting-friendly and Mumbai utilized their batting resources better than RCB.

Du Plessis suggested that to combat dew and the lack of penetration among their bowlers, the team's batters must produce performances that make opponents feel the weight of a big target. He also identified the lack of top-order partnerships, except for the 82-run stand between Rajat Patidar and himself, was a factor in their defeat.

RCB's next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on April 15. They will aim to avoid their fifth consecutive defeat. Currently, they are in ninth place with the second-worst net runrate of -1.124.
