Due to 'slight back stiffness', Rohit played as an impact player
A "slight back stiffness" forced Rohit Sharma to play as an impact player in Mumbai Indians' match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.
Piyush Chawla at the post-match press conference stated:
"He just had a mild back stiffness so it was just a precautionary thing."
Rohit scored an unbeaten 11 off 12 balls as MI failed to chase down a target of 170 on a two-paced pitch at the Wankhede. It was their eighth defeat in 11 matches, leaving them in ninth place and their play-off chances hanging by a thread. Asked what's left for MI to play for, Chawla was candid.
The silver lining for Chawla was that he became the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL, surpassing Dwayne Bravo's tally of 183.
Chawla did it with his first ball of the match, having Rinku Singh caught and bowled.
