Shimron Hetmyer's explosive knock of 27 runs off just 10 balls proved to be the game-changer as Rajasthan Royals clinched a thrilling three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in the IPL on Saturday.
Hetmyer's innings, which included three sixes, helped Rajasthan chase down Punjab's total of 147-8 with just one ball to spare. With this win, Rajasthan has consolidated its position at the top of the table, having lost only one game this season.
Ashutosh Sharma, batting in the lower order, top-scored with 31 runs off 16 balls before being caught on the last ball of the innings by Trent Boult.
Rajasthan's opening batsmen, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tanush Kotian, provided a solid foundation for the chase with a 56-run partnership. However, Kotian was bowled by Liam Livingstone for 24 in the ninth over.
Kagiso Rabada, the fast bowler, then dismissed Jaiswal (39) and Sanju Samson (18). Shimron Hetmyer came in to bat in the 17th over when the visitors were still 35 runs behind.
He hit two boundaries in the 18th over and continued to score even as his partners Rovman Powell (11) and Maharaj (one) were dismissed.
