Gavaskar supports the idea of bringing back Pandya into Test squad

Former Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar believes that bringing back Hardik Pandya into India's Test squad is crucial for making the team unbeatable. Gavaskar stresses that how Pandya is utilised will be key to India's success in Test cricket. After Pandya played a vital role in India's T20 World Cup win, Gavaskar is now advocating for his return to the Test format, especially with a busy schedule ahead.

India is scheduled to play three Tests against New Zealand in October, followed by a four-Test series in Australia in late November. Gavaskar believes Pandya's inclusion could be a game-changer during this period, especially if he starts bowling again.

Gavaskar expressed his hope that efforts will be made to convince Pandya to come back to Test cricket. He suggested that if Pandya bats at No. 6 or 7 and bowls a few overs a day, India will become almost unbeatable in any conditions.

Although Pandya has not played Test cricket in six years and has only 11 Tests under his belt, his recent form and India's need for a pace-bowling all-rounder in Tests may prompt his return.

Gavaskar's endorsement of Pandya comes as newly-appointed Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir faces his first major test in the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle. Pandya's reputation suffered during IPL 2024, but his performances in the T20 World Cup have redeemed him in the eyes of fans and critics.

Gavaskar's support for Pandya highlights the belief that his return could greatly strengthen India's Test team, potentially making them an unstoppable force regardless of the conditions they face or the opposition they come up against.
