Gujarat Titans cross the line with Miller
David Miller led Gujarat Titans to a seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Sunday.
The Proteas batsman scored 44* off 27 balls with four fours and two sixes as the Titans reached their target with five balls to spare.
Earlier, Sunrisers posted 162 for eight, with Aiden Markram making 17 off 19 balls and Heinrich Klaasen 24 off 13.
Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins came to Ahmedabad with fond memories of leading Australia to an ODI World Cup triumph, but this time it was the home side who prevailed.
Gujarat captain Shubman Gill made 36 to help his side make an attacking start after fellow opener Wriddhiman Saha's 13-ball 25 set up the chase.
Sai Sudarshan then came on in place of Mohit and put on a key 64-run third-wicket stand with fellow left-hander Miller, who struggled with his running in the middle and Gill said it was "just a cramp, I think".
Sudarshan fell to Cummins for 45, but Miller held firm to steer the team home with Vijay Shankar at the other end in an unbeaten stand of 30.
Gujarat needed 49 from the last 30 balls before Miller and Sudarshan removed Mayank Markande in a 24-run 16th over to ease the chase.
Mohit's medium-paced bowling set up the victory as he took three wickets, including the key wicket of Abhishek Sharma, who made 29 off 20 balls.
Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan made his presence felt when he bowled Klaasen.
Hyderabad, who won their only title in 2016 under David Warner, suffered their second defeat in three matches.
