Gujarat Titans Will Have A New Coach for IPL 2025
A recent report from News18 suggests that the Gujarat Titans are likely to part ways with head coach Ashish Nehra and Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki before the IPL 2025 season. Both Nehra and Solanki have played pivotal roles in the franchise's journey since its establishment in 2022, during which they captured the championship title. The team also finished as runners-up in 2023, losing in a thrilling final to the Chennai Super Kings.
Yuvraj Singh, the iconic cricketer, is being considered as a possible successor to Nehra, but no final decision has been reached yet. Currently, there have been no updates regarding changes to the backroom staff.
A source close to the matter commented, “There are numerous changes on the horizon. Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki are likely to depart, and discussions about Yuvraj Singh have begun. While nothing has been confirmed at this point, we may see significant shifts in the Gujarat Titans' coaching staff.”
Additionally, the report states that IPL owners are scheduled to meet with the BCCI on July 30 or 31 to discuss the forthcoming mega auction for IPL 2025. Key topics for this meeting will include decisions concerning team retentions, the Impact Player rule, and budget allocations for each franchise.
Meanwhile, following a successful stint as the head coach of the Indian team that led to their T20 World Cup victory in 2024, Rahul Dravid is reportedly gearing up for a new challenge in the IPL. Since stepping down from his national coaching role, Dravid has been linked to several franchises. Initial reports suggested he might join the Kolkata Knight Riders, especially after Gautam Gambhir's promotion to head coach, a position that was previously held by Dravid. However, recent developments indicate that Dravid is currently in talks with his former IPL team, the Rajasthan Royals.
