Sunrisers Hyderabad have won three matches in the 2024 Indian Premier League. The team comprises of power hitters and posted the highest total in the history of the cash-rich league. The Hyderabad-based franchise scored 277/3 against Mumbai Indians and won by 31 runs.

Travis Head (62 off 24 balls), Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23 balls) and Heinrich Klaasen (80 off 34 balls) played an attacking innings.

Klaasen has been a valuable asset to the franchise. In addition to the IPL, the South African batsman has been dominating the batting charts in white-ball cricket. He demonstrated his skill for the Proteas in the ICC World Cup 2023 and then continued his form in SA20.

He returned to SRH in excellent form and is scoring his runs at a strike rate above 190. Despite his celebrity status, Klaasen is learning from young Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Reddy. Abhishek has hit 16 sixes in five matches, while Reddy has 5 in the only game he has played for the franchise.

In his conversation with Crizbuzz, Klaasen praised the two batters:

‘They are hitting the ball nicely. I am amazed to see their range in the nets. I also pick up something they do right and add it to my game. You are never too old to learn from others. It doesn’t matter if the players are younger than you. You can still add things to your batting by looking at them.”

Pat Cummins is now the captain of SRH and has been leading the franchise from the front. His inspirational leadership is complemented by his experience of playing in India.
