Ian Holland led Leicestershire to a rain-affected eight-wicket win

Ian Holland led Leicestershire to a rain-affected eight-wicket win over Yorkshire in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup, maintaining their title defence. Chasing a revised 22-over target of 150, Holland took 2 for 39 from 10 overs and scored 42 off 25 balls.

Leicestershire’s victory, fourth in six matches, moved them into the top three of Group B. Yorkshire, after being put into bat, scored 236 for 7 from 50 overs before a rain delay reduced the game. Despite a strong recovery from 118 for 6, thanks to Dom Bess (60) and Matthew Revis (55), they fell short.

Alongside Holland, Tom Scriven and debutant Alex Green each took two wickets. Leicestershire’s bowlers were dominant early on, reducing Yorkshire to 79 for 4.

Yorkshire’s late surge, led by Bess and Revis, set a competitive total, with 93 runs coming in the last 10 overs. Leicestershire, aided by Duckworth-Lewis-Stern, chased the target with ease. Holland and captain Lewis Hill, who scored 71 off 54 balls, anchored the chase. Hill’s unbeaten knock, supported by Ajinkya Rahane (28), sealed the win with 2.2 overs to spare.
