Injured player at Pietermaritzburg Oval filled with pins
On Tuesday, CSA will decide whether KZN Inland Tuskers can play their T20 Challenge matches at Pietermaritzburg Oval.
According to a report by Rapport newspaper last week, Tuskers players and coaches had to remove pins and glass shards from the field after the KZN State of the Province address by Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube at the venue.
On Friday, the match between KZN Inland and Free State B teams was cancelled due to a minor injury sustained by a Free State player from the pins on the outfield.
Free State Cricket Union CEO Johan van Heerden told Rapport:
“It wasn’t a serious injury, but the outfield was bad – there were hundreds of the pins lying around.”
The school's match between Hilton and Michaelhouse, originally scheduled to be played at Pietermaritzburg Oval, was relocated to another stadium.
