Jacques Kallis replaces Gautam Gambhir In KKK

Following Gautam Gambhir's appointment as the head coach of Team India, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are reportedly considering South African veteran all-rounder Jacques Kallis for the role of mentor. Gambhir, who led KKR to their IPL 2024 title victory, will be leaving a vacancy at the franchise.

Initial reports suggested Rahul Dravid as a potential replacement for Gambhir, but according to The Telegraph, KKR is looking to bring in a legendary foreign cricketer for the role. Jacques Kallis, who has a history with KKR as a player and coach, is being considered for the position.

Kallis was a key member of the KKR team that won IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 under Gambhir's leadership. He later went on to coach KKR from 2016 to 2019 before resigning to become the batting consultant for the South African cricket team.

Gambhir's first assignment as India's head coach will be the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka, with three T20 Internationals and three ODIs scheduled in Pallekele and Colombo in July and August. Both India and Sri Lanka will be finalising their team selections for the series.
