James Anderson may come back to white-ball cricket

James Anderson, renowned for his remarkable Test career, is contemplating a comeback to white-ball cricket, particularly in franchise T20 leagues, after retiring from international Test cricket in July. Despite not participating in a T20 match for nearly a decade, Anderson feels optimistic about his potential contributions in the shorter format, inspired by the swing bowling he observed in The Hundred.

In a revealing interview with The Press Association, Anderson admitted he is still coming to terms with his retirement, stating, "I might be in a bit of denial because I’m well aware I won’t play for England again, but I’ve still not made a decision on my actual cricket career." The idea of playing franchise cricket excites him, given that it would be a new experience.

His last T20 appearance was in August 2014 for Lancashire, after which he dedicated himself to Test cricket, concluding with an impressive record of 690 Test wickets, making him England's highest wicket-taker in this format. Additionally, he grabbed 269 wickets in ODIs, solidifying his status as a key player for England in one-day cricket as well.

As Anderson weighs his future in the sport, cricket enthusiasts are eagerly watching to see if he will make a return, potentially revitalising his career in the dynamic landscape of franchise cricket worldwide.
