Jemimah Delights Fans with a Musical Performance in Sri Lanka

Star Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues recently brought joy to her young fans in Sri Lanka with an impromptu singing session. Currently participating in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, Rodrigues delighted the crowd by singing the famous Bollywood song 'Mere Sapno Ki Rani' by the legendary Kishore Kumar.

In a heartwarming viral video, Rodrigues can be seen singing and clapping along to the song's beats, accompanied by a small drum. Surrounded by several young kids, the cricketer created a joyous atmosphere as they sang along with her, cherishing the special moment.

Jemimah's love for music is well-known. She has previously performed with legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar at the BCCI awards earlier this year. Despite scoring only 20 runs in her two innings of the Asia Cup so far, Jemimah remains a fan favourite.

India has had a fantastic start to their Women’s Asia Cup campaign, securing back-to-back wins against Pakistan and UAE. Under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, India began the tournament with a seven-wicket victory over Pakistan and followed it up with a commanding 78-run win against UAE.

In their match against UAE, India recorded their highest T20I score, surpassing the 200-run mark for the first time. The Women in Blue posted an impressive total of 201/5 in their 20 overs, with captain Harmanpreet Kaur leading the charge with a top score of 66 off 47 balls, including seven fours and a six. She was well supported by Richa Ghosh, who played a blistering innings of 64* off 29 balls, featuring 12 fours and a six. Ghosh's performance made her the first wicketkeeper-batter from India to score a fifty in the Asia Cup, marking her maiden T20I fifty.

Thanks to these stellar performances, India defeated UAE by a significant margin of 78 runs and secured their place in the semi-finals of the tournament. India will next face Nepal in their last group game on Tuesday, July 23.
