Jonny Bairstow is set to make his debut in the SA20, playing for the Joburg Super Kings in 2025. The franchise has retained key players like Faf du Plessis, Gerald Coetzee, and Donovan Ferreira. They have also acquired Tabraiz Shamsi from Paarl Royals in exchange for Dayyaan Galiem.
The Super Kings' retained overseas players include Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana, and David Wiese. Additionally, Nandre Burger, Lizaad Williams, and Imran Tahir, who contributed to the team's success in reaching the Qualifier last season, will return.

Paarl Royals Retain Key Players for SA20 2025
Paarl Royals have confirmed the retention of ten South African players, including captain David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, and Andile Phehlukwayo, for the SA20 2025 season. Kwena Maphaka and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, rookies from the 2024 season, have also been retained.
To make room for new additions, the Royals have released Dane Vilas, Evan Jones, Wihan Lubbe, and Ferisco Adams. The current squad of 11 players, including seam-bowling allrounder Dayyaan Galiem (traded in), is gearing up for the new season starting January 9.
Kumar Sangakkara, Royals' Director of Cricket, accentuated the importance of having a strong core of South African players and making necessary changes after last season's disappointing finish.
