Kapp was reprimanded for breaching the ICC code of conduct
South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has received a reprimand for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third Women's T20I against Sri Lanka in East London on Wednesday.
Kapp was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to: "Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or are likely to provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman when dismissed during an international match".
In addition, Kapp has received one demerit point on her disciplinary record for this offence, which was her first in a 24-month period.
The incident took place during the 13th over of Sri Lanka's innings. After dismissing captain Chamari Athapaththu, Kapp used inappropriate language and gestured towards the pavilion.
Kapp accepted the offence and the proposed sanction by Shandre Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. Therefore, a formal hearing was unnecessary.
On-field umpires Jacqueline Williams and Thomas Mokorosi, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Lauren Agenbag have charged the player with a Level 1 offence.
Level 1 breaches may result in an official reprimand, a fine of up to 50% of the player's match fee, and one or two demerit points.
