The former Indian cricketer, Karun Nair, is making a remarkable return to the sport after a seven-year hiatus from international play. Recently, Nair has showcased his batting skills, scoring impressive runs for Vidarbha and Northamptonshire. Over the past year, he has adopted a focused mindset, prioritising the importance of seizing each opportunity as it comes, rather than getting overwhelmed by future expectations.
Nair’s resurgence began in early 2023 during the English county season, where he tallied 249 runs in three matches, boasting an average of 83 and including a century against Surrey. He continued this momentum with Vidarbha, scoring 690 runs in 10 matches, which featured two centuries and played a crucial role in their advance to the Ranji Trophy semifinals. Despite previous frustrations due to limited playing time in his home state of Karnataka, his transition to Vidarbha has been timely and vital for his career revival.
Looking back on his journey, Nair reflects on the lessons he learned from facing challenging conditions in England, which have enhanced his batting ability.
