Laura Wolvaardt remained optimistic about the progress made

South Africa's captain, Laura Wolvaardt, expressed satisfaction despite her team's humbling defeat in the final T20 International against India, leading to a series draw. After a comprehensive loss where South Africa was bowled out for just 84, India chased down the target in 10.5 overs to secure a 10-wicket victory.

Reflecting on the series, which started with a win for South Africa followed by a rain-affected match and now a heavy loss, Wolvaardt emphasised the positive strides made by her team in the first two games. Despite the disappointing finish, she highlighted the team's intent and improvements in batting, aiming to take learnings and not let one poor performance overshadow their progress.

Acknowledging the batting collapse in the final game, Wolvaardt noted the team's struggle to adapt to the conditions effectively, especially after setting competitive totals earlier in the series. She pointed out the challenge of balancing aggression with adaptability, particularly under changing conditions like dew and lights.

Amidst the defeat, there was a positive note with all-rounder Marizanne Kapp's return to bowling after a lengthy injury layoff. Wolvaardt praised Kapp's economical spell, highlighting her class and impact in the powerplay despite the long break from bowling.

Overall, despite the series ending on a disappointing note, Wolvaardt remained optimistic about the progress made and the lessons learned, looking forward to building on these experiences in future engagements.
