Litton Das, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter for Bangladesh, will not be part of the playing XI in the second and final Test against South Africa in Chattogram. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hasan Shanto revealed that Das is unwell, along with his teammate Jaker Ali, leading to their omission from the squad.
The Bangladesh team has undergone three changes since the first Test, with Nayeem Hasan also out alongside Das and Ali. Mahidul Islam Ankon, Nahid Rana, and Zakir Hasan have been brought into the lineup to fill the gaps. In the toss, South Africa opted to bat first after winning, introducing Dane Paterson and Senuran Muthusamy in place of Dane Piedt and Matthew Breetzke.
Das's recent performance had not been stellar, as he managed only eight runs across both innings in the first Test. However, as one of the veteran players with a history of consistent scoring, his absence is a significant loss for the Bangladesh side. The team will be counting on other players to rise to the occasion in his stead.
South Africa currently leads the series 1-0, having secured a seven-wicket victory in the first Test. They aim to capitalise on this momentum and will rely on their batters to deliver stronger performances than in the opening match to clinch the series.
