Matthew Breetzke joins the Steelbacks for a T20 blast

South African batsman Matthew Breetzke has joined the Northamptonshire Steelbacks for the 2024 Vitality Blast.

The South African brings a combination of power and elegance to Northamptonshire's top order and is eager to get started later this month.

Breetzke had a taste of international cricket with South Africa in 2023 and head coach John Sadler believes his experience will be a big boost for the Steelbacks.

Breetzke has enjoyed some brilliant domestic seasons in South Africa, most recently finishing top scorer in the 2024 CSA T20 Challenge with 467 runs, and Sadler is keen to see Breetzke carry that form into the Blast this summer.

The Steelbacks have now confirmed their two overseas players for the Vitality Blast, with Sikandar Raza also joining them in 2024.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks kick off their T20 campaign against Derbyshire Falcons at Wantage Road on May 30.
