Miller and Klaasen Rejoin South Africa for T20 Series vs India
South Africa has announced the return of batting talents David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen[ZAP1] to their squad for a four-match T20 international series against world champions India next month. This series presents an opportunity for the Proteas to seek redemption following their narrow defeat to India in the World Cup final in June. The first match will take place in Durban on November 8.
Joining Miller and Klaasen are left-arm fast bowler Marco Jansen and spinner Keshav Maharaj, both of whom missed the preceding series against Ireland due to commitments in franchise leagues. Coach Rob Walter has assembled a largely strong squad, although key fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will be rested in preparation for South Africa's upcoming Test series.
Gerald Coetzee returns following recovery from a side strain injury, while the squad features two uncapped all-rounders, Mihlali Mpongwana and Andile Simelane. Notably absent from the T20 World Cup final team are Quinton de Kock, Anrich Nortje, and Tabraiz Shamsi, with Walter emphasising the need to provide young fast bowlers with opportunities.
India too has announced a squad sidelining several star players as they focus on an upcoming Test series against Australia.
