Anrich Nortje, the fast bowler, will be unavailable for Test cricket with the Proteas during the 2024-25 season due to a stress fracture in his lower back.
This injury had previously prevented him from participating in both the ODI World Cup in India last year and this year's SA20 tournament.
Nortje, who is currently playing in the IPL, recently made a comeback in the domestic T20 Challenge.
After not being awarded a national contract for the 2024 season, Nortje intends to focus on T20 cricket next season to strengthen his body before returning to the longer formats. CSA director of cricket Enoch Nkwe confirmed this to Rapport newspaper.
