Sussex Cricket has announced that Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer have both agreed to one-year contract extensions with the club.
Jofra Archer, who joined Sussex in 2016, has amassed 181 first-class wickets, 44 T20 wickets, and 42 Test wickets for England across 13 matches. Archer was also England's top wicket-taker during the 2019 ICC World Cup and played a crucial role by bowling the decisive super-over that led England to victory against New Zealand.
This season, Archer made his comeback from injury in a Second XI match for Sussex before joining England's T20 squad for the ICC T20 World Cup, where he took 10 wickets, helping England reach the semi-finals. He is also available for selection in the upcoming home T20 quarter-final against Lancashire Lightning on September 4th.
Ollie Robinson, who has been with Sussex since 2015, has played in 97 First-Class matches, taking 423 wickets at an average of 21.11. A key player in Sussex's bowling attack, Robinson has taken 27 wickets at an average of 24.33 in the 2024 County Championship and 16 wickets in the T20 Blast, aiding the Sussex Sharks in securing a quarter-final spot. He has also claimed 76 Test wickets in 20 matches at an average of 22.92.
Expressing his joy over the contract extension, Archer stated that he is thrilled to continue with Sussex, which feels like home to him. Robinson echoed these sentiments, expressing excitement about the team's direction and his eagerness to contribute further in the upcoming year.
Sussex Head Coach, Paul Farbrace, expressed his pleasure at the extensions, highlighting Archer's significant contributions to the club both on and off the field, including his involvement in a pre-season camp in India. Farbrace also praised Robinson's vital role in both the County Championship and the T20 Blast, underscoring his importance in the team's progress and success. The club looks forward to their continued contributions as they aim to build on their achievements.
