Pakistan's poor performance was the reason for severe criticism
Harsh criticism has been directed towards the Pakistani cricket team following their disappointing performance in the current T20 World Cup. Former player Imran Nazir did not hold back, labelling captain Babar Azam and his fellow players as "cowards" for their lack of effort on the field.
The team's campaign started poorly with a surprising loss to the USA, followed by a defeat to traditional rivals India in a low-scoring game. Imran Nazir was outspoken in his criticism, accusing the team of making excuses for their poor results.
According to Nazir, fearlessness is crucial in cricket, and he believes the team fell short in this regard. He pointed out the team's lack of a solid middle-order batsman who can effectively rotate the strike, which has led to missed opportunities and poor performances.
Echoing Nazir's sentiments, Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad raised concerns about Babar Azam's performance in major competitions. Shehzad accused the team of performing well against lower-tier teams but faltering when faced with tougher challenges. He also questioned Babar's statistics in big matches, highlighting his relatively low average and strike rate.
As Pakistan prepares to face Ireland in their final Group A match, the team faces mounting pressure to salvage their campaign and silence their critics.
