Birmingham Phoenix boosted their chances of a top-three finish with a dominant win over Northern Superchargers at Edgbaston on Tuesday.
Phoenix excelled with the ball, dismissing the Superchargers for just 83 runs and then completing the chase in record time, thanks to explosive innings from Ben Duckett and Moeen Ali.
Northern Superchargers, who won the toss and chose to bat, were greeted by a subdued performance from England Test captain Ben Stokes. Stokes faced 20 deliveries from the non-striker's end before being bowled out first ball by Tim Southee, who delivered a ball that nipped back through the gate.
The Phoenix pace attack set the tone for the match. Southee took a wicket with his first delivery, removing Matt Short, while Adam Milne dismissed the dangerous Nicholas Pooran. Captain Harry Brook, alongside Adam Hose, tried to stabilise the innings, but Brook fell to Chris Wood with the score at 36 for 4.
Duckett and Moeen Ali then took Phoenix to a 10-wicket victory, with Duckett scoring 43 from 20 balls and Moeen adding 37 from 21. Phoenix's win dents the Superchargers' chances of reaching The Hundred Eliminator, while propelling Phoenix into third place after five matches.
