Mumbai Indians batsman Tim David and batting coach Kieron Pollard have been fined for requesting a teammate to seek a TV review in contravention of the rules during an IPL match.
Video footage of the team dugout showed David and Pollard gesturing towards batsman Suryakumar Yadav and urging him to take a review for a wide ball during a game against the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on Thursday.
David and Pollard were found to have committed a Level 1 offence under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which states that players are not allowed to seek assistance from off-field personnel to determine whether to request a referral to the TV Umpire.
The BCCI announced that David and Pollard were each fined 20% of their respective match fees. They admitted to committing the offence and accepted the match referee’s decision.
The Mumbai Indians, who secured a narrow nine-run victory on Thursday, are currently ranked seventh in the 10-team competition.
