Pollock is hospitalised again

South African cricket icon Graeme Pollock was hospitalised 10 days ago after suffering a stroke.

This is the latest health setback for the 80-year-old, who has battled colon cancer and Parkinson’s Disease.

On Friday, Spook Hanley, Pollock’s former Transvaal teammate, visited him:

“He moves his arms and understands everything you say. Although he is stable, I can’t see him getting out [of the hospital] in the near future.”

A left-handed batsman, Pollock played only 23 Tests for South Africa due to isolation, averaging 60.23. In 1999, he was named South Africa's cricketer of the 20th century.

Currently, Pollock resides at the Evergreen retirement home in Johannesburg.
