Opening batter Tazmin Brits aims for the Proteas Women to secure their T20I series against Sri Lanka in Potchefstroom on Saturday and extend their lead to 3-0.
South Africa is using the series to prepare for the Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in September and October.
In the first T20I in Benoni, the Proteas made 198-5, their second-highest total in the shortest format. Captain Laura Wolvaardt scored her maiden T20I century (102 off 63 balls).
After scoring 15 runs off eight balls in Benoni, Brits witnessed the impressive 116-run partnership between Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp. Kapp scored 60 runs off 40 balls, anchoring the Proteas innings.
Brits said:
“We’ve always looked at, you have to have your in batters [in the end], so that was a big thing for us. Wolvaardt scoring that hundred, that will get you to the 200s at the end of the day so they’re very confident, and they’re looking forward to [Saturday’s] game.”
The Klerksdorp-born batter is set to earn her 50th T20I cap, making it a memorable occasion.
