Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has made a smooth transition into coaching following his retirement from all forms of cricket after IPL 2023. He has recently taken on the role of batting coach and mentor for the men's team at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). With a wealth of IPL experience, having represented multiple teams such as Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, and RCB, Karthik has scored a total of 4,842 runs in 257 IPL appearances.
Excited about his new role in coaching and mentoring, Karthik aims to use his playing experiences to contribute to the development of the team. He emphasises the importance of technical proficiency, match intelligence, and composure under pressure in achieving success in cricket. Celebrating his 39th birthday, Karthik announced his retirement and took a moment to reflect on his career, expressing gratitude to coaches, teammates, and support staff who played a crucial role in his journey. With notable performances across formats, including 94 ODIs, 60 T20Is, and a Test century against Bangladesh, Karthik leaves behind a legacy in international cricket.
As he embarks on this new chapter in coaching, Karthik looks forward to guiding and mentoring the next generation of cricketers at RCB to foster their growth and success.
