Rohit thinks that India-Pakistan Tests would be awesome

India captain Rohit Sharma has expressed his support for the resumption of Test cricket against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Despite being bitter political adversaries and having fought three wars since their partition at the end of British colonial rule in 1947, the two nations have not played a Test match against each other since 2007. They only occasionally face off in shorter versions of the game, usually on neutral territory in international tournaments.

During a YouTube chat show hosted by former cricket captains Adam Gilchrist of Australia and Michael Vaughan of England, Rohit expressed

his belief that playing Pakistan in a Test series would be beneficial for the five-day game.

“They are a good team, superb bowling lineup, good contest. Especially if you play in overseas conditions, that will be awesome.”

Australia has offered to host a series between India and Pakistan.

The two teams have not played a bilateral series on each other's soil since 2012.

In 2020, India declined to travel to Pakistan for the white-ball Asia Cup, resulting in part of the tournament being held in Sri Lanka.

The most recent encounter between the two teams was at the ODI World Cup in India in October.
