Sanju Samson hopes to be in the Indian cricket team

Sanju Samson, the Indian cricketer, remains optimistic despite facing challenges in securing a regular spot in the Indian cricket team. Known for his talent and potential, Samson has struggled to break into the playing XI, particularly with Rishabh Pant being the preferred wicketkeeper-batsman in T20Is. However, the 29-year-old cricketer is not overly concerned about the lack of opportunities and instead focuses on the team's success and his own growth.

Samson has faced a tough journey in the Indian squad, especially after missing out on the ODI team for the Sri Lanka tour, despite scoring a century in his last 50-over appearance. Yet, he maintains a positive outlook, is content with the overall performance of the team and is patient with his chances.

"I will just go and play whenever they select me. That's it! End of the day, our team is doing well. I am the kind of person who believes in a higher purpose. I just try to take things positively under controllable circumstances and put up the efforts,” Samson said during an event.

Recently, Samson participated in the T20I series against Sri Lanka but struggled to make an impact, getting dismissed for consecutive ducks. Nevertheless, he bounced back with a notable performance in the fifth T20I against Zimbabwe, scoring 58 off 45 balls and helping the team recover after early wickets.

Samson was also included in India's squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, though he didn't get the opportunity to play, with Pant being favoured in the playing XI. His selection for the World Cup came after a strong IPL season, where he captained Rajasthan Royals and finished as the fifth-highest run-scorer, amassing 531 runs at an average of 48.27 and a strike rate of 153.46.

While Samson has shown great potential in ODIs, with 510 runs from 14 innings at an impressive average of 56.66, his T20I performances have been inconsistent. Despite the increasing competition for the wicketkeeper's slot, Samson remains focused on delivering strong performances whenever he is given the chance.
