Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of KKR and a Bollywood superstar, shared a warm embrace with departing team mentor Gautam Gambhir at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai. Gambhir, who recently transitioned to the role of India coach after guiding KKR to victory in IPL 2024, bid farewell to his mentoring responsibilities with the franchise.
Confirmed as Rahul Dravid's successor on July 10, Gambhir's inaugural assignment will be leading India on their tour of Sri Lanka starting from July 27. Both Shah Rukh and Gambhir attended the lavish wedding celebrations in Mumbai, where a widely circulated video captured their heartfelt interaction.
In the video, Shah Rukh Khan is seen warmly embracing Gambhir, with both exchanging smiles and engaging in a conversation that underscores their enduring friendship. Gambhir, visibly pleased, shared moments of camaraderie with the Bollywood icon during the event.
Reflecting on his new role, Gambhir emphasised the significance of players making the most of their opportunities across all cricket formats when in top form.
"Look professional cricketers, you got a very small span. When you are playing for your country you want to play as much as you can. When you are in very good form, go ahead and play all the three formats," Gambhir advised.
