Sharma and Kohli announced their retirements from T20Is

Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on their successful T20I careers, culminating in a T20 World Cup victory against South Africa. Both players announced their retirements from T20Is following the win. Tendulkar praised Rohit for his growth from a promising youngster to a World Cup-winning captain and hailed Virat as a resilient champion who delivered when it mattered most.

Speaking about Virat Kohli, Sachin emphasised his resilience and greatness, stating, "@imVkohli, you have truly been a champion of this sport. Despite facing challenges earlier in the tournament, you showed why you are one of the all-time greats of cricket. With six World Cup appearances and a victory in the last one, I understand the journey well. I look forward to seeing you continue to succeed in the longer formats."

Kohli played a pivotal role in the final, scoring 76 runs off 59 balls to rescue India from a tough situation. He ended the tournament with 151 runs in eight innings, including one half-century. Kohli finishes his T20I career as the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history and the second-highest in T20Is, with 4,188 runs at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04, including one century and 38 fifties.

Rohit Sharma also had a stellar showing in the tournament, scoring 257 runs in eight matches at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate over 156, with three half-centuries. He retired as a two-time T20 World Cup champion, having first won in 2007. In his T20I career, Rohit accumulated 4,231 runs at an average of 32.05 and a strike rate over 140, including five centuries and 32 half-centuries, establishing him as the leading run-scorer in the format.
