India might have benefited from employing the sweep shot more effectively, as many batters were dismissed playing that shot throughout the series. Sri Lanka's success came from their adept use of sweeps, which helped them score 70% of their runs square of the wicket in the third ODI. 

Captain Rohit Sharma noted that Sri Lanka’s batters were more effective at utilising the sweep and manipulating the field, whereas India’s batters struggled with this approach. Rohit highlighted that Sri Lanka’s success with sweeps and their ability to force the fielders to move were key differences in the series.

India's batting against spin has come under scrutiny, despite the team’s history of handling turning tracks. Rohit believes that individual plans and adapting strategies are crucial, as each batter has their own method for playing spin.

Despite the team's overall batting struggles, Rohit was the standout performer, scoring 157 runs at a strike rate of 141.44. He focused on capitalising during the power play and maintaining momentum, though he was ultimately dismissed while trying to play aggressive shots.
