South Africa Prepared for Bangladesh

Despite the vast differences between Pretoria and the conditions in Dhaka and Chattogram, the Proteas are determined to "get on with it" and adapt to the local environment. While Pretoria sits over 1,300 metres above sea level, the humid, low-altitude playing conditions of Bangladesh will test the Proteas' adaptability.

South Africa’s last visit to Bangladesh for Tests was in 2015, and both matches were drawn due to rain. This time, the team has only one player, Temba Bavuma, with prior Test experience in the country, although he will miss the first match due to injury. Kagiso Rabada, the most seasoned player in the squad, has some limited experience in Bangladesh through white-ball cricket.

Despite these challenges, head coach Shukri Conrad expressed confidence in the team's preparation. South Africa's batting coach, Ashwell Prince, will play a key role in guiding the players, as he brings valuable experience from his tenure as Bangladesh's batting coach in 2021-22.

The Proteas have struggled in recent years in Asia, losing nine of their last 10 Tests. However, Conrad is keen for his team to face tough challenges in different conditions, believing it will build character. Despite playing fewer Test matches than other teams, South Africa will look to rise above the odds and deliver a competitive performance in Bangladesh.
