South Africans heartbroken at African Games
In the final of the Women's T20 cricket tournament at the African Games in Accra on Wednesday, South Africa suffered a Super Over defeat to Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe scored 112-5, with Modester Mupachikwa contributing 31 off 49 balls.
In response, all-rounder Miané Smit scored 31* from 32 balls for South Africa. However, a run-out off the final ball resulted in a dramatic tie, forcing the match into a Super Over.
In the subsequent six-ball shootout, Zimbabwe claimed two South African wickets and conceded only two runs.
They then secured the gold medal with a boundary on the second ball of their Super Over.
