Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced the upcoming home series for the U19 men's and women's cricket teams for the 2024/25 season. These matches are set to prepare the teams for future ICC age-group tournaments, offering invaluable international exposure.
The SA U19 women's team will kick off their cricket season with a Youth T20 International series against Ireland from October 28 to November 1 in Tshwane. This five-match series at Groenkloof Oval serves as a warm-up for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, to be held in Thailand and Malaysia.
Following this, the SA U19 men's team will host England in a multi-format tour in the Western Cape from January 17 to February 6. The tour includes three Youth One-Day Internationals and two Youth Test matches, along with a warm-up game against Western Province's junior side.
Grant van Velden, CSA's Head of High Performance, emphasized the importance of these tours, stating that international competition is crucial for developing young talent and preparing them for global events. He also expressed gratitude to the cricket boards of Ireland and England for their cooperation in organizing these series, which provide a platform for showcasing South Africa's emerging cricketing stars.
These matches not only enhance the players' experience but also inspire young fans and potential future cricketers. The CSA aims to leverage these tours to nurture and showcase the next generation of cricket talent in South Africa.
